Tissue temperature

Understanding tissue temperature is essential for guiding energy-based surgery, which relies on heat or cold to affect tissues in the treatment of cancer, cardiac arrhythmia and pain management.

The Problem

Today, clinicians typically use printed paper guidelines to estimate how much heat or cold will be deposited into tissues during energy-based surgery. That inaccuracy can lead to improperly administered therapy.

TAEUS is being developed to enable clinicians to see tissue temperature change in real time on conventional ultrasound, removing the guesswork from this complicated procedure.

Thermo-ablative surgery is just one example of the healthcare challenges ENDRA is tackling. With enhancements to conventional ultrasound, we will plan to revolutionize what clinicians can see and do in real time.

Bringing TAEUS’ improved soft-tissue contrast capabilities to point-of-care ultrasound aligns extremely well with China’s efforts to provide effective, lower-cost health services to its 1.4 billion citizens by shifting care delivery from small urban hospitals to primary-care community clinics.
